In 2011-2012 , the Nova Scotia University Student Bursary was awarded to Nova Scotia and Domestic students as indicated below. It is anticipated this bursary program will continue for 2012-2013 academic year.
Nova Scotia Students (Nova Scotia Residents) receive a Nova Scotia University Student Bursary of $128.30 per half credit (3 credit hour) course.
Domestic Students (Canadian and Permanent Residents) who did not receive the Nova Scotia bursary of $128.30 per half credit will receive $26.10 per half credit course.

Note 1: Arts Learning Resource Fee ($5.00 per half credit) is charged for all courses offered in the Faculty of Arts to cover the cost of course materials.
Note 2: Science Technology Fee ($15.00 per half credit) is charged for all courses offered in the Faculty of Science, with proceeds going towards science equipment.
Note 3: ENGE 1000 level courses are assessed tuition at $439.00 per half credit plus the Science Technology Fee (Note 2).

Medical and Dental Plan Information
Medical and Dental plans are administered by the Saint Mary's University Student's Association (SMUSA). Any questions or concerns regarding the plans should be directed to the SMUSA Health Plan Office at healthplan.smusa@smu.ca or 902-496-8754.
Medical and Dental plan fees are assessed to all full-time students each year. Students with comparable medical and dental coverage may opt out of the University medical and dental plans each year as indicated below:
Canadian Students
· Online through SMUPort (http://smuport.smu.ca/cp/home/loginf)
OR
· Visiting the Health Plan Office (Student Centre, Room 524), signing a waiver and providing proof of coverage.
International Students
· Visiting the Health Plan Office (Student Centre, Room 524), signing a waiver and providing proof of coverage.
Deadlines for Opting Out of Medical and Dental Plans:
· Fall Term - Friday September 21, 2012
· Winter Term - Wednesday January 23, 2013

Students who choose to audit courses will be assessed regular tuition and all other compulsory fees exactly as if they were taking the course(s) for credit.
Miscellaneous Fees (PDF)
Two criteria are used to identify students who are residents of Nova Scotia
o Students with a Nova Scotia student loan
o For students without a Nova Scotia student loan, the following is used:
§ Canadian students entering university immediately after completing high school in Nova Scotia (within the last twelve (12) months)
§ Canadian students not coming immediately after Nova Scotia high school completion, the permanent home address on the application for admission must be in Nova Scotia.
Campus Renewal Fee
· Mandatory fee charged for each half credit (3 credit hour) course.
· Proceeds go towards campus infrastructure (i.e. renovations, new buildings)
Copyright Access Fee
· Mandatory fee charged for each half credit (3 credit hour) course.
· Proceeds go towards costs incurred by the University for access to copyrighted materials used in the classroom.
International Differential
· Mandatory fee charged to international students for each half credit (3 credit hour) course.
