As a student-centered research institution, The University of Winnipeg places singular importance upon graduate education and research. The University has embarked on a major drive to extend its academic excellence by promoting graduate training and research innovation and thereby enhancing the University’s intellectual capacity and prominence.
The University of Winnipeg’s Research and Graduate Studies Office mission is to promote and support graduate education and research, to foster excellence in graduate programs at the University, and to attract top national and international graduate students.
Our Office oversees the administration of the many facets of graduate programs on campus. The Office facilitates administration and promotion of internal and external graduate student research funding opportunities. These include The University of Winnipeg Manitoba Graduate Scholarship, as well as the Canada Graduate and Postgraduate Scholarships from Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
In addition, the Office is responsible for development of new graduate and joint program proposals and provides support to the Joint Senate Committee (JSC) on The University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba Joint Master’s Programs (JMP).
